About Jordan D. Schnitzer

At age 14, Jordan Schnitzer bought his first work of art from his mother’s Portland, Oregon contemporary art gallery, evolving into his lifelong avocation as collector.

Jordan Schnitzer began collecting contemporary prints and multiples in earnest in 1988. Today, the collection exceeds 20,000 works and includes many of today’s most important contemporary artists. It has grown to be the country’s largest private print collection. He and his Family Foundation generously lend work from the collections to qualified institutions and have organized over 160 exhibitions at over 120 museums across the country.

Jordan Schnitzer is also President of Schnitzer Properties, a privately owned real estate investment company based in Portland, Oregon, which owns and operates over 28 million square feet of office, multi-tenant industrial, multi-family and retail properties in six western states.

“For me, waking up each day without art around me would be like waking up without the sun. When you live with art around you, your mind and soul are filled with the beauty of life and the creativity of the human spirit.”

  • Transportation for students to the exhibition
  • Artist/scholar lectures or demonstrations

The Foundation encourages venues to use the exhibitions as the basis for interdisciplinary activities and engage constituents that might not otherwise have an association with the museum in order to prompt critical commentary on the works and the medium of printmaking.
